Type Locality and Naming

In the Bartang-Pyanj type of Jurassic sections

Synonym: Shisharb suite (шишарбская свита)

Lithology and Thickness

The suite is composed of alternations of metamorphosed bluish-gray limestones and dark sandstone-siltstone rocks. Thickness 100-150 m.


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Upper Triassic-Middle Jurassic Vamara Fm (ваrмарской свите)

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion by metamorphosed limestones, conglomerates, sandstones, and limestones of the Upper Cretaceous.

Regional extent

In the Bartang-Pyanj type of Jurassic sections, the age equivalent of the Damamat Fm (дамаматской Свиты) is the Shisharb Fm (шишарбская свита), exposed in the left-bank tributaries of the Vamardara River and in the basin of the Obirun River.
